Day visit

We all spent Father's Day visiting Sky and we were not sure at all what to expect. I know Brian started out thinking he would rather spend his Father's Day relaxing, or hanging out at the pool, but he was awesome and went with the flow anyway. As soon as we arrived on the ranch, we saw it was a clean, open, peaceful place, and we started to exhale. We saw Sky in the cafeteria and he was so glad to see us! The staff told us he had really been missing us, and they really impressed us with their kindness and easy manner. It was great to see, right off the bat, that he was in a place where he could start to heal. Throughout the day we went to the park, went fishing, played on the playground, hung out in the main lodge, and watched him play with Liam. He had a couple moments where we saw the kid who had left us, but there were already major changes. He was actually interested in other people, and asked us questions about ourselves, he noticed that behavior affects everyone, and he was generally polite, respectful and considerate. It was great. We left him reassured that we had made the right decision for his future. He is working out a lot of past trauma, and is in a safe place to do so. He is getting in shape, creating relationships based on mutual trust, and we are so glad.
